At the start of the pandemic, I learned more about distance education than I ever had before. My school district had a crisis plan in place, something we practiced each year through designated e-days, but nothing could fully prepare us for the magnitude of what was to come. I think back now and better understand the many layers our school leaders had to navigate to maintain learning during such uncertainty. As a classroom teacher, I focused on how to structure meaningful curriculum for young learners, support digital access within my role, and maintain strong communication with families.
